Schuddebeurs was the place where the Zeeland rich used to build their country houses and estates. The mansions were surrounded by wooded parks and lush gardens. Many of the estates were lost during the Second World War, but this route takes you through the estates that are best preserved. The park forests are now managed by Staatsbosbeheer and when you walk on the paths between the ancient beech avenues you understand why. Nice route on the Schouwsedijk, the dike along the Havenkanaal. The route can be used for walking, cycling and running. It is also ideal for a bit of cycling with younger children. The route runs to Schuddebeurs. This is a group of estates. The group used to be much larger, but much was destroyed during World War II. This group is all that is left.

The dike runs in the middle of waters, with the Oosterschelde on the left and on the right a wetland area rich in birds where countless creeks flow.
