A wide and gentle paved trail with beautiful scenery and nice houses to look at along the way...busy with lots of walkers and bikers. This is a perfect trail if you want an outdoor experience without venturing too far from civilization. Although the trail itself is mostly easy and relatively flat compared to some of the other routes in the nearby areas, there are some rocky sections along this trail, so hikers should be sure to wear proper footwear, and watch out for loose gravel, especially on the steeper sections.

Smuggler Mountain Road is a really fun trail that's basically a straightforward up and down trip. You'll pass a bunch of really interesting mines along the way that are quite fun to explore, like Pelland Mine and Dellas Mine, and others are nearby enough to reach if you're looking to extend your hike just a little bit.

This route starts at the trailhead parking area on Ute Avenue, then goes steeply uphill to Ute Rock (a great photo spot). From there it's just up, up, and up, all the way to the Sundeck at the top of the ski lifts. This route has some punishingly steep climbs, but once you're up on the ridge, the scenery makes it all worth it.
