This trail network is especially popular with mountain bikers in the summer months, and cross country skiers in the winter months. In the winter, some trails are groomed for cross-country skiing and closed to hiking and snowshoeing traffic. Be sure to check for ticks if hiking here in the warmer months.

This trail travels through the forest on the west side of the reservoir and is a great place to see wildflowers bloom in the springtime. The Wildflower Trail is designated for foot traffic only and some section have uneven footing and exposed roots, so good shoes are recommended. Hunting is allowed, so wear blaze orange during the fall.

Begin by passing by the beach and picnic area along Hallowell Reservoir before joining the Quarry Trail and passing the quarry. This is used as a snowmobile path in the winter months. T The trail eventually meets a junction and head back towards the lake and parking area on the Pipeline Trail. The trail is mostly wooded and crosses over a few brooks.

This conservation area protects a wooded area backing up to the Maine State Capitol building. The forest is filled with streams, cliffs, and large boulders. At points, there are views of the Kennebec River and the capitol building. Wear blaze orange during the hunting season, bow hunting is permitted with permission from the Kennebec Land Trust.

Very nice paved trail along the river with parking and port-a-potties at the start. Accessibility: There are five designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Water St. at the north end of the trail. One of them is van-accessible with a striped access aisle. The trail surface is asphalt, smooth, and typically at least 6 feet wide. The most accessible portion of the trail is the first 2.5 miles out.
