The Via Francigena is the common name of an ancient pilgrimage route that leads from France to Rome and Puglia. On this route, you will take the segment that goes from Besançon to Étalans. Departing from the Esplanade Jean-Luc Lagarce, you will first follow the Doubs on the Chemin de la Malate which passes by the Tour de Bregille. You will then go inland through fields, Saône marshes, forests and typical villages of this beautiful region of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
