Cottonwood Trail runs largely next to the railroad track. It's a flat and wide gravel trail which enters into beautiful greenery and nature sounds the further in you go. There are birds abound at the lake and great views at the viewpoint. Trails continue past the Observation Tower and all the way around Burnaby Lake.

This is a nice loop on gravel forest trails from the west end of the parking lot. Limited views from the northwestern point, with no beach access, a couple benches, and lots of very old nurse tree stumps. You also have the option to take a shortcut path to shorten the loop. The entire trail is an off-leash dog friendly area.

Deer Lake Trail is a mostly gravel pathway with boardwalk portions that hug Deer Lake. The route is more of an outdoor urban walk than a hike, but it is a nice place for families with small kids, folks looking for a nice nature trip, or a good loop outside if you are short on time. There is also boating available at the lake during the spring through the fall season, so folks are always welcome to bring their paddle board, kayak, or canoe.
