The hiking trails in this area can be affected by weather in the area- during periods of heavy rainfall, parts of the trail may be flooded. This route winds through central Florida’s longleaf pine and scrub oak hills, live oak thickets and hardwood hammocks, past creek bottoms, and cypress ponds. There are many unique features in the area such as ravines, prairies, and abandoned rock mines.

This bike loop is for experienced mountain bikers as it contains big climbs, steep drops, and other technical challenges in the trail. The trail is mostly shaded and travels through a forested area. There are not many views along the trail, however, there are many opportunities to view wildlife and wildflowers.
