From the heart of Delden you walk south, where you cross the Twente Canal. Here you walk into a vast farmland, along streams and on farm paths, and small pieces through forest. At the end of the route you will visit the historic center of Delden, past the church and the market. The walking route is marked with blue arrows by Wandelnetwerk Twente.

Historic hiking trail over Estate Twickel near Delden, past the castle, through the woods and various outbuildings. The history of Estate Twickel goes back at least to 1347 when Herman van Twickelo bought the Eysinck house. The purchase contract is the first document in which the estate is mentioned. Over the centuries, the estate was further expanded. The current castle, where the route starts, has parts dating back to the 16th century. The building endured several construction phases....

The Umfassungsweg is an official walking route around the Twickel estate. The walking route owes its name to the German landscape architect Petzold, who did a lot of work on the estate at the end of the 19th century, commissioned by Baron Van Heeckeren van Wassenaer.
