Walk from Eursinge to Dwingelderveld National Park. The majority of the trail leads around the Holtveen. The Holtveen is the wettest raised moor area in Europe and consists of heath, forest and shifting sand. The water offers beautiful views and many bird watching opportunities. You also walk to the Schapenkop viewpoint.
Activities
Features
Short forest walk through the Kremboong. The forest was largely cut down in the early 20th century to extract timber for trade with Indonesia. This is where the forest got its name from. Today many special flowers and plants grow here, including a beautiful undergrowth of red and bilberry, honeysuckle and ferns. The walk is marked with purple arrows.
Activities
Features
The Nuilerveld is a small heather field. It used to be part of the much larger Nuylerveld, but surrounding fields were tamed to be used for agricultural activities. Because the soil in the Nuilerveld was too poor and the area too hilly, this part was never reclaimed. The walk takes you through rugged primeval fields, inhabited only by birds and butterflies.
