A tour through the countryside between Ruinen and Benderse, past the historic Zaandplatte windmill. Here you will find a nice mix of forest and farm fields. You will also pass through the village of Benderse. Here is the visitor center for the Dwingelderveld National Park and you can easily transfer to other routes deeper into nature. The route runs entirely on paved paths, so also perfect for cycling or for a run.

The first half of this Groene Wissel is dominated by the Dwingelerveld. A hike through the unique nature, from forests to heathland and small lakes. A beautiful trail. The route then takes you through the countryside of Ruinen and through Ruinen itself, with a visit to a historic windmill.

Short circular walk through Dwingelderveld National Park starting at the visitor center. You walk through the woods to the tea house. Then you walk across the heath, past various fens. Here you have a good chance of encountering the sheep flock of the nearby sheepfold. A beautifully varied nature walk marked with white posts.

The Jac. P. Thijsse hiking trail is a marked route of Natuurmonumenten through Dwingelderveld National Park. The Dwingelderveld is a special piece of primeval nature, the last wet heathland in the Netherlands. In 1930, the Dwingelderveld came under the management of Natuurmonumenten. Jac. P. Thijsse played a significant role in this, as well as preserving the nature of the Dwingelderveld.
