The hike follows the canyon south, through high walls which tell the story of violent volcanic eruptions over the lake which once filled the Primavera Caldera. The canyon becomes less than 3 meters wide as you go through the dramatic Caja de Piedras. Along the way you will pass deposits of Bentonite in which fossil leaves can be found. No far beyond a small waterfall and pool, you can see two bare patches where some animal leaves big, deep scratches in the soft wall.
