This walk is a self-guided interpretive walk in old-growth redwoods with outstanding examples of plant life within an old-growth grove. A segment of this route has been designed for sight-impaired visitors. There is a guide rope along one side of the (Discovery) trail leading to a series of Braille Information placards.

This is a single track trail that goes from the road up to the fire road that goes up Mt. Saint Helena. Alternatively, you could take the fire road the whole way, by starting about a quarter mile north along CA - 29, Lake County Hwy. After a mile and a half it reaches the fire road. Another quarter mile or so and you have reached the popular "Bubble" rock climbing area. Further along the fire road there are more popular climbing areas.
