This hike is located in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. The route goes through the Col de Peternit at an altitude of 566 m, the Rehbrunnenkopf (632 m), Bildstroeckle and the Clairière de la Bruyère. The route continues via the Nez de Soultz and the Chemin de Saint-Jacques (referring to the famous Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle which can be started from the German border), before returning to the starting point .

This beautiful hike in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park starts from Jungholtz in the Haut-Rhin and takes you to the summit of the Grand Ballon. The trail mainly in the forest passes by the Col Firstacker and the Col du Grand Ballon. The Grand Ballon is the highest point in the Vosges and you will have a magnificent panorama of the peaks of the Vosges massif and La Plaine d'Alsace. The route can be done in two stages by spending the night in the Refuges and hotels near the summit.

The start of this route is at the Wuenheim village hall parking lot (next to the church). Turn left (rue St Gilles), then right (rue du Tir). The route then follows the vineyards to reach the Rote Rain monument. Cross the road to take the Stations of the Cross to the basilica of Thierenbach. Walk past the entrance to the church, then take the path towards the village.
