Per the Adirondack Land Trust, please begin your hike from from home/accommodations, from a designated parking space on Mirror Lake Drive, or from a municipal lot. This is a very short but enjoyable trail through woods and then up onto a rocky outcrop with a nice view. Great hike for kids - streams to enjoy, woods and a very fun rock scramble with a rope to help you up. The views are great for such a short hike.

This is a short route around the Brewster Peninsula that provides excellent views of the surrounding Lake Placid and Buck Island. There are a few other trails that cut through this loop, making for plenty of possible segment combinations. The overall route is short and has minimal to no elevation gain, making this great for the whole family.

Downloading the map ahead of time is recommended as there are areas here without trail markers (specifically on Haystack Mountain). The trail is eroded and can be extremely steep in sections, please practice caution when on the trail. The Jackrabbit Trail is only open for cross-country ski and snowshoe traffic beginning December 7th and continuing through the winter months annually.
