The trail begins from the Pass Mountain Overlook at mile 31.6 along Skyline Drive. The trail heads into the forest and makes a small loop. The trail passes some large boulders and there are a few nice viewpoints along the way. This is a great trail to stretch your legs on with kids and pets while driving Skyline Drive.

Parking is available in a lot alongside Skyline Drive. The Appalachian Trail passes by the starting point along with the beginning of the Neighbor Mountain Trail. The trail covers rolling terrain before arriving at the top. The summit is wooded, views are best during the late fall through early spring when the leaves have fallen.

This approach to Mary's Rock begins from the Panorama Parking Area along Skyline Drive. From here you can easily access the white-blazed Appalachian Trail and begin hiking south. The trail heads uphill eventually reaching Mary's Rock. From this point, there are beautiful sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.
