This is a dirt path near a lake. There is also a disc golf course. Accessibility: It is unclear if there are any designated accessible spaces in the gravel parking lot off of Chanute 35 Parkway at the east end of the trail. The trail surface is a natural dirt surface and typically at least 5 feet wide. The estimated grade is mostly gentle (5% or less). All-terrain tires or motorized equipment may be needed for the surface type and grade.

Post Oak Self Guiding Nature trail begins at the scenic overlook near the dam and winds through native timber identifying a number of the tree species. This 1mile trail located on the top of table mound is a relatively easy hike. The trailhead is located at the scenic overlook near the dam. The old-growth forest setting that this trail winds through is indicative of the Cross Timbers region. A wide variety of tree species can be found here with many specimens being well over 200 years in age.
