Parque da Cidade was originally a private property, where the house of the Marquis of São Vicente was located. It was converted into a public park in 1939 and in 1948 the Marquis's former residence was converted into the Museum of the City of Rio de Janeiro. There is good parking at the entrance to the park. A great refuge in the heart of Gávea, made up of closed forest and large gardens, a very pleasant place to take a walk on a hot summer day.
