This short loop but with a height difference not to be underestimated climbs the Pic d'Arbousse (566m) not far from the town of Saint-Jean-du-Gard in the Cévénol Piedmont. A route accessible to beginner hikers, and thanks to which you can enjoy an exceptional panorama and magnificent landscapes. A good introduction to the Cévennes National Park.

This hike between chestnut groves and pine forests goes around and climbs to the Pic d'Arbousse, located at an altitude of 567 meters, at the gates of the Cévennes National Park. At the top, hikers can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Gardon de Saint-Jean valley, the village of Saint-Jean-du-Gard in Piedmont Cévénol, Mont Aigoual and Mont Lozère.

The route crosses a few hamlets before starting the ascent towards the Pic d'Arbousse on a dirt road that winds through chestnut groves and pine forests.

The route follows uncrowded roads and forest paths. Hikers pass through Saint-Étienne-Vallée-Française before reaching the Col de Saint-Pierre. The last part of the route is along the Gardon de Saint-Jean.

Hike in the Gardons valley, in the Cévennes national park, departing from the pretty characterful village of Saint-Jean-du-Gard in the Cévénol Piedmont. Along the way, hikers will pass on forest paths, and pass in front of the Rouville dolmen. The route crosses the hamlet of Paussan, and runs along the banks of the Gardon de Mialet.
