The trail begins at a gate at the end of Camino de los Mares in San Clemente. Parking is not allowed on Camino de los Mares. Instead, you will need to park on the side street about 50 yards from where it dead ends. This is a wide path that takes you up to Patriots Hill for distant views of the Pacific Ocean and Dana Point harbor.

Once you get to the Dripping Cave Trail, you'll find one of the prettiest spots in Aliso & Wood Canyons. Stop at the cave and read the story! It's fascinating. Lots of rabbits, quail, and deer in the area. Bring sunscreen in the summer, there is limited shade. This is a nice trail with a combination of asphalt and dirt and mulch. There are a couple of small hills and plenty of shade and large grass areas. There are also a few water fountains with dog bowls and gorgeous mosaic art installations along the trail. There is free parking, a playground, baseball fields, plenty of field space, and restrooms at the Norman P. Murray Community Center.
