Part of the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment on the Texas State University campus, the lake is an attraction with glass-bottom boat tours offered, as well as scuba certification and a small aquarium on site.

This area is popular for protecting the endangered Golden Cheeked Warblers who make this area their home for nesting in the spring and summer. The paths are wide and make for a great family-friendly outing. There are rolling hills along the rocky terrain and proper footwear is suggested.
