This is a beautiful multi-stage tour to do crossing the Alps from Sils im Engadin, Switzerland to Lake Como, Italy. There is certainly no shortage of breathtaking landscapes along the entire route. The route starts at Lake Sils | Silsersee, runs along the River Maira which after the border is called the Mera River and which flows into Lake Mezzola and finally into Lake Como.

The dreamlike Lej da Segl (Lake Sils) is one of the three lakes in the Engadine lake district in the Upper Engadin. Chastè is a wooded peninsula that juts out about 300 m into Lake Sils. In the southern bay, you can find the so-called Silser Kugeln (Sils balls) in autumn. These form from the larch needles falling into the lake. The currents then produce spheres up to 30 cm in size.

The twin valleys of Fex and Fedoz are delightful, and there are many ways of accessing them. One can go from Maloja to Val Fedoz, or from Sils to Val Fex. Or one can take the cable to Furtschellas and walk down into Val Fex. Both valleys have their charm, and they open up to lake Sils. The views can be astonishing, sometimes across lake Sils towards Maloja, or across lake Silvaplana to Silvaplana, Champfer and St. Moritz. This loop is a challenging bike tour crossing two iconic mountain passes. It starts in Sils between the lakes Lej da Segl and Lej da Silvaplauna. Shortly after the start of the tour, the road leads up to the Julier Pass at 2284m and then down the entire altitude difference past the Lai da Marmorera. Through Tiefencastel and past Filisur, the ascent to the second pass of the day, the Albula Pass, begins again.
