Hike at the gates of the Pyrenees National Park, starting from the small village of Urdos, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department. This route crosses woods and pastures via the Chemin de Maupas, then the Chemin de Bendous and the Chemin de Saüquet. You will see a farm in the hamlet of Saou.

This hike in the Pyrenees National Park begins in the small village of Urdos, in the Aspe valley, and leads you to the Larry refuge, located at 1748 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Pic de Hourette. You will leave the valley by a winding path which offers a beautiful view of the village and the meanders of the Gave d'Aspe. You will continue on the Chemin de Larry, along the torrent of the same name. From the refuge, you will have a splendid panorama.

Along the way, you will follow the Gave d'Aspe stream and the railway line. You will cross the stream at the level of the campsite, to arrive on the pretty plateau of Bérat. To return to the village, you will take paths and a small piece of road.

You will pass by the Larry refuge, located at 1724 meters above sea level, near a pastoral center with three cabins. You will also cross many small streams. You can sleep one night at the refuge, and it is possible to continue this hike to the peak of Ayous.

The Arlet refuge, built at altitude on the edge of the eponymous lake, is the only guarded refuge in the Aspe valley, on the Franco-Spanish border. This hike in the Pyrenees National Park gives the opportunity for a beautiful walk in diversified landscapes: forests, pastures and vertiginous cliffs.
