This is a beautiful hike that starts along Money Brook and follows it to a waterfall. It's one of the best hikes in the Berkshire region because it features the tallest mountain in Massachusetts. It follows Money Brook at the start, which makes for a very nice gradual beginning to this difficult hike. The Hopper Trail begins on Hopper Rd. in Williamstown, MA and climbs gradually and at times very steeply through old forest growth to Sperry Rd and then up to the Mt. Greylock Summit. The Hopper Trail is approximately 2.4 mi from Hopper Rd trailhead to Sperry Road and then an additional 1.7 mi to the Summit. You will need to walk a short distance along Sperry Road to transition from the lower Hopper to the upper Hopper that takes you to the summit.

Start by following the Hopper Trail before quickly turning onto the Haley Farm Trail. This trail climbs up the hillside to Stony Ledge and the camping area. The view from Stony Ledge is one of the most popular scenic overlooks in Mount Greylock State Reservation. The trail is rocky and has exposed roots, so good hiking shoes are required.

This loop has some incredible views from Stony Ledge and the summit of Mount Greylock. On a clear day, you can easily see into neighboring states like Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire. Hopper Trail leads to Sperry Road at the junction with some campsites. Continue on Hopper Trail to the Overlook Trail and the AT which crosses the summit. When you arrive back at the camping area, continue on Sperry Road to Stony Ledge and Haley Farm Trail.
