This hike in north-eastern Switzerland is classified as moderate. It takes you through beautiful meadows and forests in Appenzell Innerrhoden. The starting point is at the Eischen campsite and from there you hike south in the direction of Vordere Wasserschaffen. Then continue on the Hüttenstraße, past the Jakobskapelle and up to the Kronberg (1663 m).

The trail starts in Kaubad and you walk over idyllic renatured ponds. The path follows the shore of the largest pond and soon leads through a short stretch of forest with a view and the beautiful chapel of St. Georg Hinterkau: the view sweeps over the Gontner high valley and far across the landscape. The trail begins in Gontenbad at the train station and leads through the cultural landscape along paved roads. After a few meters the trail reaches the Gonten golf course and leads through the marshland form up to Gonten and on to Jakobsbad. From there one is able to use public transport to get back to your starting point.
