From the station in Preda, the path goes up to Alp Zavretta and to the steep summit Igl Compass, which towers over 3016m. It gets a bit rocky on the last 100 meters before the summit. Then it goes back over the Albula Pass and past Lake Lai da Palpuogna. Very nice alpine views on the mountains of Graubünden and there is a small waterfall on the way, the Funtana Fregda source. A great varied tour.

From Preda, the last stop before the Albula Tunnel, the route takes one through the natural landscape of the Ela Nature Park. After the underpass, the trail enters the forest. The next few minutes go up quite steeply on a hiking trail interspersed with roots and stones. Finally it reaches a plateau and shortly afterwards Lake Palpuogna, the destination of today's hike. It is wonderful here. It is not for nothing that this lake was crowned the most beautiful lake in Switzerland in the past.

The path then descends steeply into the Val Bever to the idyllic destination of the day to Spinas. It is a terrain, partly rocky, without much shelter, where you are exposed to the sun,...

This hike leads in the vicinity of the Albula pass. This area is very beautiful with lovely pastures, intensely blue green lakes, lots of forests, flowers, here and there a marmot may be spotted. There are several paths from the Preda railway station to the Palpuogna lake and then beyond to Crap Alv, the small lakes. Then there are also some small lakes much higher up to the south of Crap Alv. Lake Palpuogna is splendid. A drawback of this walk is that it is rather close to the Albula pass...
