The route shown on this page has the hiker starting at a parking area up a 4WD road. This route is not recommended for hikers with dogs, due to the bouldering section which would be quite dangerous for dogs to ascend, assisted or otherwise. This is a fun hike, but it should be taken seriously as it's very difficult and in a remote area.

Narrow Gauge trail is located on the pass between two massive 14'ers, Mt. Antero and Mt. Princeton. Featuring epic views without the elevation gains, this trail is relatively flat and ideal for seniors, children and hikers who may not be acclimated to the altitude. Gorgeous falls set deep in the side of Mt Princeton. From the trailhead it is easy to find the well labeled trail that will lead you up to the falls. Though this trail is short, it does gain a fair amount of elevation, so take your time. Bring water as well, since this area is very arid and the valley can get pretty hot in the summer. When you near the falls you will likely see signs not to climb around on the rocks or approach the falls to closely as rock fall is a common occurrence here....

This is a very fun hike to a spectacular waterfall. The hike has plenty of variety that will keep your interest including meadows, pine, and aspen forest. You will be treated to many views of Mt Antero, and even get to test your balance by crossing Browns Creek via small log bridges. Parts of the trail are sandy or have loose rock, so be prepared to get dusty, and you will likely waste some energy on the soft ground. Perfect choice for a short, moderate day hike.
