This excellent, well-shaded path meanders around the lake shore and travels through a beautiful forest. The trail is somewhat rocky, and sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. There is a scenic view viewpoint to look out over the lake. The trail continues west a bit longer for those who wish to extend the route.

There are beautiful views of Lake Georgetown along the way, and many opportunities to observe wildlife in the area. This is a fun trail with a mix of terrain from technical rocky sections to flat and smooth surfaces along the lakeshore. The trail follows a beautiful ridgeline until you descend close to the lake as you approach Walnut Springs. The route is mostly in a beautiful forested area with an abundance of shade which makes for great summer hiking.

The trail starting from Tejas Park is mostly flat in the beginning until after a mile in and the route ascends up to the cliffs that overlook the river. From there, you’ll enjoy a decent canopy of tree cover and some beautiful overlooks. The trail can become muddy during wet conditions and waterproof shoes are recommended.

This is a lovely trail that follows the river’s edge with nice bluffs along the way. There are two free primitive campsites along the way: Walnut Springs Camp and Cedar Hollow Camp.
