The trail is mostly made of clay and sand and is wide to accommodate foot and bike traffic. The trail runs almost parallel to the Nocatee Preserve, but on the other side of the river. This dirt road trail is very flat and there are no roots or elevation change. The east end of the trail that splits at the beginning off of Roscoe Rd is seasonally wet and has a sign to warn visitors.

During periods of heavy rainfall, the trail may flood and close for certain periods of time. Bug spray is recommended due to the number of bugs present in the warm months.

This is the main trail in the park that is short and scenic. The main surface of the trail is paved with sections of boardwalk through a salt marsh. There are many overlooks over the intracoastal waters to get some beautiful pictures of the area and wildlife observations. There are informational signs throughout the route describing the variety of animals found in this environment. At the trailhead, there are grills, picnic tables, and restrooms.
