It uses dirt roads and fenceline tracks, and narrow tracks. It is well signed and easy to follow.

A loop trail located in the Barossa Valley, about 70km north east of Adelaide, South Australia. Start and finish in the historic village of Bethany - the birthplace of the Barossa. Parking is available at the Bethany Reserve or the Church. The trail combines some sealed sections, some unsealed roads and other sections are following the Heysen Trail through farmers paddocks. Well worth the elevation for the view.

The Barossa Trail is tradition rail trail with exceptional pleasant surfaces and grades found along the whole route. This is a fantastic way to experience the Barossa Valley with a few cellar doors to check out along the way.

Enjoy making your way around the relatively easy trail and reading the informative signs along the way about the historic mine.

View the entire Heysen Trail here: https://www.alltrails.com/lists/heysen-trail--6 This section of the famous Heysen Trail begins about one hour's drive north of Adelaide in the town of Kapunda, South Australia. From here you'll enjoy a pleasant walk mostly following backroads and fence lines through farmland and fields of bright yellow canola crops and purple Salvation Jane flowers. The trail ends in the town of Hamilton.
