An enjoyable trail exploring the Dandenong Ranges National Park, located about 50 kilometres east from the centre of Melbourne, Victoria. This out and back route begins and ends from the edge of the park, on Range Road in Olinda. From the parking area here, you'll follow Range Road, Dodds Track and Doongalla Road up to the picnic area and back again. Amenities are available at the picnic site.

The route begins from Old Coach Road in the town of Sassafras, where parking is available nearby. The trail itself features plenty of ups and downs to keep it interesting. Some areas can be quite slippery and muddy and proper footwear is recommended.

This is a great trail that circumnavigates Mount Dandenong with some challenging climbs particularly toward the end. There are fabulous views with lovely forest canopies shading the trails, with the mechanics track from Olinda Falls being a favourite section for many visitors. As you come through the arboretum and join Kyeema Track you’ll want to stop at Burkes Lookout for one of the best views of Melbourne. A good length trail through the Dandenong Ranges National Park, located about an hours drive east of Melbourne, Victoria. This trail gives you plenty of opportunities to enjoy sections of the park that are not frequented often. enjoy walking through peaceful sections surrounded by ferns, trees, and birdlife. It is undulating its whole length with a few decent ascents along the way to get the heart rate up. There are many other tracks in the park to explore if you want to do a longer route.

The Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens are part of the Burnham Beeches Estate and are an incredible result of restoration by Parks Vic. The gardens feature intriguing sculptures by Mark Stoner and wonderful man made waterfalls and a lake. The Gardens are open to the public from 10am to 5pm for free. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
