This is a flat, easy path circling around Hidden Lake. It is an ideal family friendly path that hikers of all ages will enjoy. There are some areas with exposed rocks and roots. Hidden Lake is a popular spot with anglers. Be sure to familiarize yourself with Pennsylvania state fishing rules before heading out.

This stretch of the McDade Trail follows along the Delaware River and passes through some large agricultural fields and stretches of forest. The McDade Recreational Trail is made up of crushed gravel and is best ridden on a mountain bike. Most road bike tires are too narrow for the soft surface. Dogs are not permitted on beaches.

The McDade Recreation Trail extends the length of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The northern start point is at the Milford Beach Boat Launch and the southern point is the Hialeah Trailhead. The trail is crushed gravel and is best for mountain bikes. Traditional road bike tires are likely too skinny.

From the trailhead, hike a tenth of a mile north. On the right-hand side of the road, you will see a gate, and a trail going up. Climb the trail. The first area will be grassy, quickly followed by a young forest. This part of the trail will be marked by a green dot on a white rectangle mark on tree trunks. This is a nice well marked trail, although rocky in some places. Once you climb up from the road, you will reach a beautiful pond. No swimming is allowed there. You will be following the green and orange blazes.
